The Ultimate Guide for Brides-to-Be: What to Wear When Wedding Dress Shopping in Ireland

Congratulations, lovely brides-to-be! As you embark on your journey to find the perfect wedding look, it's essential to dress appropriately to ensure your comfort on the day. Not only will you want to look fabulous during the fittings, but also feel comfortable as you try on various styles and designs. In this guide, we'll share some valuable tips on what to wear when wedding dress shopping in Ireland.

Comfort is Key

First and foremost, prioritize comfort. Wedding dress shopping can be a lengthy and physically demanding process, so ensure your outfit allows you to move freely and comfortably. Opt for breathable materials, stretchy fabrics, and avoid anything too tight or restrictive. Choose something that you can easily take on and off  without fuss. For footwear, again we would recommend something that you can slip on and off. Believe or not trying on multiple dresses one after another is actually quite hard! Although we will help you in and out of each look – we try to get the most out of each appointment and get through as many looks as possible!

Wear Nude Undergarments

While trying on various dresses, you'll want to get the best idea of how they look on you. Nude undergarments, like seamless underwear and a strapless bra, are the best options The reason for this is so you ensure the focus remains on the wedding dress, which makes it easier for you to envision your final look on the big day. If you’re wearing bright or strong coloured underwear it can distract you entirely from the dress/look. With regard to spanx or sucky ins – this is a completely personal choice and differs for each bride. If wearing these garments gives you confidence and makes you feel at your best then by all means do. There’s no right or wrong answer on this one. Just do and wear what feels right for you.

Heels

In our studio we have a range of heels to try with each dress. However if you find that you’re more comfortable in a particular heel bring it with you. For the hour that you’re in each appointment you will be on your feet and walking in and out of dressing rooms. So if you’re unsteady on your feet or a particular type of heel works for you then bring it with you.

Hair Accessories and Makeup

Keep your hair accessories and makeup simple. A hair tie or clip to keep your hair out of the way during fittings is a practical choice. Minimal makeup will ensure you don't accidentally stain the dresses and also allow you to focus on how each dress complements your natural style. As we mentioned earlier, trying on wedding dresses can be a lot of hard work so come ready with your hair in a way that you may wear it on your wedding day so you can start to get an overall aesthetic.

Snacks!

We always advise to bring snacks no matter where you go, but particularly if youre going to a lot of bridal boutiques in Ireland. As we mentioned earlier trying on wedding dresses is actually quite hard work so definitely bring something to eat in between shops to keep energy and concentrations levels where they need to be.
