When Should I Start My Mizz Rio Bridal Journey?
You’ve booked the venue, the date is set, and the next question arrives:
“When do I actually need to sort my dress?”
Search results shout “9–12 months”. Friends all say something different. Inside a design studio like Mizz Rio, the answer is clear:
Every gown is drafted, cut and sculpted for one woman. That level of work needs time – not drama, just structure.
Here’s how we time it.
What’s the ideal time to order my Mizz Rio dress?
For a standard (non-rush) order, we recommend:
Order your Mizz Rio gown 10–12 months before your wedding date.
That window gives us:
-
Up to 10 months for design refinement, fabric sourcing, pattern cutting and construction
-
Around 2 months reserved for fittings and alterations on your real, current body
At 10–12 months out, your dress isn’t squeezed into gaps. It has its own place in our schedule and the attention that comes with that.
Is 6 months before the wedding enough time?
The question we hear constantly:
“My wedding is in about 6 months. Is that too late?”
At around 6 months out:
-
It may still be possible
-
It may be treated as a rush order
-
It depends on your exact date, the complexity of the gown and our diary
If you’re at, or near, the 6-month mark, the next step is simple: contact us with your date and we’ll tell you clearly what is and isn’t realistic.
How does the 10-month + 2-month process actually work?
Behind the scenes, your gown moves through two distinct phases.
Creation phase – up to 10 months
-
We refine your design and proportions
-
Fabrics and components are sourced
-
Patterns are drafted for your measurements
-
The gown is cut, constructed and built layer by layer
This is where the architecture of the dress is created: structure, line, movement.
Fitting phase – final 2 months
-
Fitting 1: overall structure and silhouette
-
Fitting 2: bust, waist, hip and length refinements
-
Final fitting: finishing details, ease of walking, sitting and dancing
Those last weeks are for precision. Your energy, posture and body at that point inform the final line of the dress.
What if my body might change?
Weight shifts, training plans, medication, perimenopause, pregnancy – they’re all part of real life.
Our timing helps with that:
-
The shape and structure are created over months
-
The fine tuning happens close to the wedding, in that final 2-month window
If you have any specific concerns or questions please reach out to us.
Ordering at 10–12 months gives your gown the time it needs, while still keeping key fittings close enough to reflect the body you’ll walk down the aisle in.
When should I book my first appointment?
If your wedding date is within the next 18 months, you’re in a good window to begin.
