Wedding Dress Alterations in Ireland - What you need to know
So who do you bring to your alterations appointment?
As I say with everything bridal and wedding – there is no right or wrong choice. There’s your choice and that’s what’s right for you and that’s all that matters.
So when the alterations phase of your wedding rolls around. The big day is literally around the corner. This is also the times when bands, venues, florists just about all of your vendors will be reaching out to you to finalise the finer details ahead of the day.
Ideally your alterations should start around 6-8 weeks out from your day. This allows time for a number of visits if they are needed. The first alterations appointment is generally where the bulk of the work is done. For this appointment we need you, the glowing bride, fully engaged in the process.
What can happen is when friends and family come along to this appointment the excitement can take over, which lets face we love.. but just not at this appointment. We need your head to be in the game and giving feedback on how the outfit feels when you move. In order for us to get the best fit possible for you we need as little distraction for you so you can fully concentrate with our seamstress.
We definitely recommend bringing someone along that can give an outside perspective for you but its not 100% necessary. Our seamstress is highly skilled in her craft and will rely on feedback from you to tweak as needed.
However, we do love the craic and the excitement, so with that said we recommend to bring the gang along on the final appointment when youre taking the dress home. At this point, your butterflies are soaring, excitement is through the roof, maybe a little bit of nerves but in general the work is done. All that’s left to do to go off and enjoy it!
Of course the above is not set in stone and is just my opinion based on experience over the years. I’ve been serving brides for almost 10 years now and im loving it more and more by the day.
What I feel works best is to give each bride the pros and cons of each element that we at Mizz Rio are involved in so that she can decide the best course of action for her.
Hope you found this helpful!
