What to Bring to a Wedding Dress Appointment (The Calm Checklist)
The goal of your appointment is clarity — not perfection. You don’t need a suitcase. You need a few simple things that help you see the dress properly and feel comfortable.
What to wear to your appointment
- Easy outfit to change in and out of
- Minimal jewellery (you’re choosing the foundation first)
- Hair clip/tie (so you can see necklines)
- Light / No makeup
Underwear: what actually matters
Bring:
- Seamless nude underwear
- A strapless bra if you wear bras like that normally (optional)
- Nipple covers if that’s your preference
- Shapewear only if it matches your real life (don’t buy panic shapewear the night before)
The point is to see lines clearly and feel comfortable.
Shoes: bring heel height, if you plan on wearing heels
Shoes matter for:
- posture
- hem length
- how you move
If you don’t have your wedding shoes yet, bring a pair with a similar heel height to what you expect to wear.
What to bring physically
Bring:
- Your phone (photos if allowed — ask first and please ensure our staff are not included in any pictures)
- A small note with your wedding month/year and any other relevant details
- 1–3 reference images if possible
Don’t bring:
- A big entourage
- Anyone who makes you second-guess yourself
- A mindset of “I must decide today”
What to bring mentally (this is what changes everything)
Bring one decision boundary:
-
“I’m here for direction, not pressure.”
And remember: your optimum timeline is 8 months production + 8-10 weeks alterations, so the earlier you get clarity, the calmer your decisions will feel.
Alterations are a separate fee at Mizz Rio and conducted in-house — which means once your base design is agreed, your fittings can be managed smoothly and intentionally.
